Win Win Situation
Imagine a situation where a betting is going on, on a TOSS (heads or tails). And the people have been told that either you bet on Heads, or on Tails, you are going to win. So my question is not that on what will the people bet on, i.e., heads or tails. The question is how much people will bet b'coz, if its heads, they are going to win, and if tails, they are also going to win more money.
Similarly in a recent Friday Sermon, I have heard a similar Win-Win situation that I like to share with you. Don't worry, we don't have to bet and all. That was just a bad example.
The interesting thing goes like this. When we make "dua" (supplication) to Allah (The One & Only God), asking something, either it gets accepted or it gets rejected. Supplication can include anything (getting pass in exams, asking for more money, asking for relief from some problem, asking for FORGIVENESS, asking for relief from Hell, asking for any Worldly benefit or of hereafter), But it should be asked to Allah Almighty only and should not involve sin or severing of the ties of kinship.
If our supplication gets accepted (say for something in this world), its well and good, but if is not accepted by Allah Almighty then don't get depressed. You will be rewarded for your supplication not getting accepted by Allah (The One God) during Day of Judgment. Because you trust in Allah and you asked something only from Allah Almighty.
Further more when we will come to know the REWARD of that supplication not getting Accepted by Allah Almighty in this world during Day of Judgment, we would wish that ALL our supplications in this world should not have been accepted, so that we would get REWARD for all those supplications in Hereafter (The Eternal life)..
The following Hadith (sayings of Holy Prophet) supports the above things.
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘There is no man who prays to Allah and makes supplication’ to Him, and does not receive a response. Either it will be hastened for him in this world, or it will be stored up for him in the Hereafter, so long as he does not pray for something sinful, or to cut the ties of kinship, or seek a speedy response.’ They said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what does seeking a speedy response mean?’ He said, ‘Saying, “I prayed to my Lord and He did not answer me.” (Al-Tirmidhi, 3859; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 852).
Just imagine, If you ask something from Allah, He may grant u with that Supplication (it could be any supplication, it may be you asking to be abundant & rich).. And if you don't get it, you still are in benefit, since you will be paid for that Supplication in Hereafter. We have nothing to loose...
This is the great Mercy of AlMighty Allah (The One God) on those who believe & have faith..
So starting making lot and lot of Supplications and ask from Allah Almighty. (Don't forget me in your supplications)...
