Death an Indispensable Reality

Death, an indispensable reality

HOW often do we remember death? Yes death, a harsh and fearful reality that escapes no living person. None can avoid it. The people around a dying person don’t have the ability to prevent it. Death happens every moment and it does not discriminate between the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak. Everyone is equal in front of death, because no one has any means to escape it or use intercession to avoid it or even delay it.

Allah (The One & Only God) says in the Holy Qur’an:
“Say: Indeed, the death from which you flee will surely meet you, then you will be sent back to Allah, the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen. And He will then tell you what you used to do.” (Qur’an, 62:8)

Every one is going to taste death. And We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to Us will you be returned.” (Qur’an, 21:35)

Our hearts tremble with fear on the thought of this indispensable reality. A person’s actions are sealed with death and
what comes after that is more fearful, because will there be a place where one can flee to in order to escape the afflictions suffered in the grave? What will our reply be when we are questioned in the grave? None of us know where we will end up. Will it be Paradise whose width is like the heavens and the earth or will it be the Fire whose fuel is of men and stones?
Ibrahim Bin Adham (d. 160H) was asked about the verse:
“Call upon Me and I will respond to you.” (Qur’an, 40:60) that: “We call upon Allah (The One God), but He does not respond to us.” So Ibrahim replied:
“You know Allah; yet you do not obey Him. You recite the Holy Qur’an; yet you do not act according to it. You know Shaytan (Devil); yet you continue agreeing with him. You claim to love Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him); yet you abandon his Sunnah (Prophet’s methodology). You claim to love Paradise, yet you do not work for it. You claim to fear the Fire; yet you do not stop sinning.

You say ‘indeed death is true’;
yet you have not prepared for it. You busy yourselves with the faults of others; yet you do not look at your own faults. You eat the sustenance that Allah (The One God) provides for you; yet you are not grateful to Him. And you bury your dead; yet you have not heeded its lesson.” (Ibn Rajab’s Al-Khushu’-fis-Salah, pg. 62)

This reality must be firmly established in our heart –the reality that
life in this world is limited and has an appointed end, and that this end will surely come. Sheikh Ali Hasan Al-Halabi mentions some good reflections in his book Al-Mawt:
“The righteous will die; and the wicked will die. The warriors who fight jihad will die; and those who sit at home will die. Those who busy themselves with correct beliefs will die; and those who treat people as their slaves will die. The brave who reject injustice will die; and the cowards who seek to cling to this vile life will die. The people of lofty goals and ambitions will die; and the wretched who live for cheap enjoyment will die.

“...So keep death in mind, and the passing on to the next life, and the number of sins that one has committed and the small amount of good that one has done. Think of the good that you would earnestly like to do at that time – then bring that forward and do it today. And think of all those things which you would desire to clear yourself of – then clear yourself from them now.” – Al-Istiqamah

Heart trembling story of the grave

Sayyiduna Umar bin Abdul Aziz once went to the graveyard with the funeral where he sat pondering. Someone asked him, `Why are you sitting in astonishment next to this grave?` He replied, `This grave called out to me and said, `Why don`t you ask me what I do to the people who come into me.` I said to the grave, `Do tell me.` The grave said, `When a person comes inside me, I rip off his shroud and then rip the person’s body to pieces and eat his meat. Are you not going to ask me what I do with the joints?` I said, `Do tell me.` The grave said, `I separate the hands from the wrists, the knees from the calves and the calves from the feet`.` After saying this, Sayyiduna Umar began to cry.

When he stopped crying, he said, `My dear brothers! We are to live in this world for a short period. Those who are sinners in this world and still hold high status will be disgraced in the Hereafter. Those who are envied in this world because of their wealth will be hated in the Hereafter due to their actions. The one who is young will grow old and the one who is alive will die. This world will deceive you because you are aware that it will soon depart. Where are those individuals who recited the Qur`an? Where are those who went to the house of Allah )The One & Only God) to perform Hajj? Where are those who fasted in Ramadan? What did the earth do with their bodies? What did the insects of the grave do to their flesh? What happened to their bones and joints? I swear in the name of Allah (The One God) ! In the world, they slept on soft beds but now they have left behind their families, their wives have remarried, their children are suffering in the streets and their families have shared the inheritance amongst themselves. Amongst these are those fortunate ones who are successful in their graves and some are being punished.

How sad! Oh foolish! Today at the time of your fathers, your sons or brother’s death, you close their eyes, you bathe them, you wrap them in a shroud, you carry their body on your shoulder, you go along with the funeral procession and you bury them in the grave. (Remember! This will soon be happening to you.) How I wish I knew which cheek would rot first (in the grave).` After saying this, Sayyiduna Umar started crying until he fell unconscious. He departed from this world a week later. (Raud-ul-Faaiq, P138, Dar-ul-Kutubul Ilmiyyah Beirut)

Hujja-tul-Islam Imaam Muhammad Ghazali writes in Ihya-ul-Uloom, `At the time of his death, Sayyiduna Umar was reciting,

Translation Kanzul-Imaan: This abode of the Hereafter - We make it for those who do not wish greatness in the land nor turmoil; and the Hereafter is only for the pious.
(Sura Qasas: 83) (Ihya-ul-Uloom, V4, P510, Dar-ul-Kutubul Ilmiyyah Beirut)

May Allah (The One & Only God) bless you and your family with his grace(Ameen) Insha Allah (God Willing)..!

The Scholar and the Boatman

The Scholar and the Boatman

A scholar of language and grammar undertook a journey. A river had to be crossed. As was the custom in those days, the scholar hired the boat of a waiting ferryman who took people across the river.

During the journey, the scholar asked the ferryman, with obvious pride and mockery, if he knew anything about grammar and the rules of language.

The ferryman simply replied, "I don't."

"Alas!" retorted the rude scholar of grammar, "You have wasted half of your life."

At this, the sailor was terribly hurt and aggrieved. But he kept quiet. Suddenly the boat was extremely nervous in the high waves and gushing water.

"Do you know how to swim, learned Sir?" asked the sailor.

"No!" said the scholar.

The ferryman remarked, "Alas! You have wasted your whole life for the boat is sure to capsize in a few minutes."

Moral: Knowledge in one branch is not enough to be proud about.

Your Weakness = Your Strength

Your Weakness = Your Strength

This is a story of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training, the master had taught him only one move. "Sensei," the boy finally said,

"Shouldn't I be learning more moves?"

"This is the only move you know, but this is the only

move you'll ever need to know," the Sensei replied.

Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher,

the boy kept training.

Several months later, the Sensei took the boy to his

first tournament. Surprising himself, the boy easily

won his first two matches. The third match proved

to be more difficult, but after some time, his

opponent became impatient and charged; the

boy deftly used his one move to win the match.

Still amazed by his success, the boy was now

in the finals.

This time, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and

more experienced. For a while, the boy appeared

to be overmatched. Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about

to stop the match when the Sensei intervened.

"No," the Sensei insisted, "Let him continue."

Soon after the match resumed, his opponent made

a critical mistake: he dropped his guard. Instantly, the

boy used his move to pin him. The boy had won the

match and the tournament. He was the champion.

On the way home, the boy and Sensei reviewed

every move in each and every match. Then the boy summoned the courage to ask what was really on his mind. "Sensei, how did I win the tournament with only one move?" "You won for two reasons," the Sensei answered. "First, you've almost mastered one of the

most difficult throws in all of judo. And second, the

only known defence for that move is for your opponent

to grab your left arm."

Moral: The boy's greatest weakness had become his
greatest strength..

A Blind Boy !!!!!

A Blind Boy !!!!!

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: 'I am blind, please help.' There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, 'Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?'

The man said, 'I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.'
What he had written was: 'Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it.'

Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was much more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. Refrain from harming others instead be beneficial to others.

ONLY THREE QUESTIONS ???

ONLY THREE QUESTIONS ???

Once there was a young man who went overseas for further studies, after spending some years abroad studying and researching in a certain scientific field at a top university, he returned to his home country to his parents where he found himself a white-collar job at a multi-national organization and proud he was of his education and professional status.

One day he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his three questions. Finally his parents were able to find a Muslim scholar who was invited to answer the young man's three questions.

And so the question and answer session began between the highly educated  & vibrant young fellow and the aged scholar simple & decent of nature.

Young Man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?

Scholar humbly replied: I am one of Allah's (The One God's) servant and Insha Allah (God Willing), I will be able to answer your questions.

Young Man: Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions.

Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of Allah (The One God).

Young Man: I have three questions.

They are as following:

1) Does God (Allah) exist? If so, show me his shape.

2) What is fate?

3) If Satan (Devil) was created from the fire,  why at the end in punishment he will be thrown to Hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Satan and the Hell were created by God from fire.

Did God (Allah) Think of this far?

Suddenly, the scholar slapped the young man's face very hard.

In shock and pain the young man asked: Why do you get angry at me?

Scholar replied: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your questions.

Young Man: I really dont understand.

Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

Young Man: Of course, I felt pain.

Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?

Young Man: Yes.

Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!

Young Man: I cannot.

Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape .... Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?

Young Man: No.

Scholar: That is fate my second answer.... my hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?

Young Man: It is created from flesh.

Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?

Young Man: Flesh.

Scholar: How do you feel when I slapped you?

Young Man: In pain.

Scholar: Thats it. This is my third answer, even though Satan (Devil) and also the Hell were created from fire, if Allah (God) wants, the hell will become very painful & tormenting place for the Satan (Devil).

ALLAH (The One & Only God) Does Exist

This is a good explanation of why Allah (The One God) allows pain and suffering that we have seen.....

Once a man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects when they eventually touched on the subject of Allah (The One God)...

The Barber said: I dont believe that Allah (The One God) exist.

The Customer asked: Why do you say that?

Barber: Well, you just have to go out on the street & realize that Allah doesnt exist. Tell me, if Allah (The One God) exist, would there be any sick people?

Would there be abandoned children? If Allah (The One God) existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I cant imagine a loving Allah who would allow all these things.

The Customer thought for a moment, but didnt respond because he didnt want to start an argument.

The Barber finished the job & the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair & untrimmed beard, he looked dirty & unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barbershop again & said to the barber: You know what? Barbers do not exist.

A surprised barber asked: How can you say that? I am here, & I am a barber, & I just worked on you!

The customer exclaimed: No! Barbers dont exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair & untrimmed beard, like that man outside.

Barber said: Ah, but barbers do exist! Thats what happens when people dont come to me.

The customer affirmed: Exactly thats the point! Allah (The One God) too exist! Thats what happen when people dont go to Him, dont look to Him for help, dont have faith in Him, & dont obey Him. Thats why there is so much pain & suffering in the world.

Allah (The One & Only God) said "If you are ashamed of Me, I will be ashamed of you"

Yes i Love Allah (The One & Only God), my Master, my fountain of life & my Savior. He keeps me going day & night, without my Master, i am no one, but with my Master, i can do everything. Allah (The One God) is my strength.

May He help you to succeed in this life & follow the way of the truth...

Story - The Fisherman

Story - The Fisherman

An investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The investment banker complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.

The fisherman replied, "Only a little while."

The investment banker then asked, "Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more fish?"

The fisherman said, "With this I have more than enough to support my family's needs."

The investment banker then asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

The fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening and spend time with my family, I have a full and busy life."

The investment banker scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you. You should spend more time fishing; and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat: With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats.

Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor; eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to a big town and eventually to the the city where you will run your ever-expanding enterprise."

The fisherman asked, "But, how long will this all take?"

To which the investment banker replied, "15 to 20 years."

"But what then?" asked the fisherman.

The investment banker laughed and said that's the best part. "When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions."

"Millions?...Then what?"

The investment banker said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings and spend time with your family."

Moral: Work to achieve your goals in life but do not run for the goals which are not going to really give you fruitful results at the end of the day. Work hard but give time to yourself and your family. Do not compormise your family life.

There might be several other conclusions from this story as well. its matter of your personal apprehension like the hardy & foolish pursuits of wealth & fortune takes all your precious time. your worthy moments but in the end after achieving the wordly goals you are old and nearing death. All the youth amd precious time is wasted in just the worldly pursuit.

" This Too Shall Pass "

" This Too Shall Pass "

Once Upon a Time an Emperor Called Upon All Of His Wise Men And Asked Them

is There Any Magical Saying Which Works In Every Situation, In Every Circumstance

In Every Place And In Every Time

In Every Joy, Every Sorrow Every Defeat

And Every Victory ?

One Answer For All Questions ?

Something Which Can Help Me

When None Of You Is Available To Advise Me

All The Emperor's Advisers Were Baffled By The Question

They Agreed On One Solution On The Suggestion Of A Learned Scholar

Who Gave Them A Note To be Given to Emperor

The Note Was To Be Opened Whenever The Emperor Was In Trouble

Just A Few Days After

He Was Attacked By The Neighbouring Country.

The Emperor And His Army Fought Bravely But Were Still Losing The Battle & The Emperor Was

Trying To Run Away On His Mount.

The Enemies Were Following Him Getting Closer And Closer

Suddenly The Emperor Found Himself

Standing At The End Of The Road

That Road Was Not Going Anywhere

Underneath There Was A Rocky Valley

Thousand Feet Deep

If He Jumped Into it He Would Be Finished..

And He Could Not Return Because It Was A Small Road

The Sound Of Enemy's Horses Was Approaching Fast,

The Emperor Became Restless

There Seemed To Be No Way

Then He Remembered The Note Given To Him

By His Loyal Advisers And

He Opened It And Read

“ THIS  TOO  SHALL  PASS ”

The Emperor Read it , Again & Again.

Suddenly Something Struck Him...

Yes !

This Too Will Pass.

Only A Few Days Ago,

I Was Enjoying My Rule.

I Was The Mightiest Of All The Emperors.

Yet Today,

The Empire And All its Pleasures Have Gone.

I Am Here Trying To Escape From Enemies.

Like Those Days Of Luxuries Have Gone,

This Day Of Danger Too Will Pass.

A Calm Came On His Face.

He Kept Standing There.

The Place Where He Was Standing Was Full Of Natural Beauty.

The Revelation Of The Message Had A Great Effect On Him.

He Relaxed And Forgot About Those Following Him.

After A Few Minutes He Realized

That The Noise Of The Horses And The Enemy Coming Was Receding.

They Moved into Some Other Part Of The Mountains And Were Nowhere Near Him.

The Emperor Was Very Brave.

He Reorganized His Army And Fought Again.

He Defeated The Enemy And Regained His Empire.

When He Returned To His Empire After Victory,

He Was Received With Much Fanfare.

The Whole Capital Was Rejoicing in The Victory.

Everyone Was in A Festive Mood.

Flowers Were Being Showered On Emperor From Every House,

From Every Corner.

For A Moment The Emperor Said To Himself,

” I Am One Of The Bravest And Greatest Emperors. It is Not Easy To Defeat Me.

With All The Reception And Celebration He Saw An Ego Emerging in Him.

At That Moment Something Clicked His Mind & He Opened The Note And Read it Again :

“ THIS TOO SHALL PASS ”.

He Became Silent.

His Face Went Through A Total Change

From The Egoist He Moved To

A State Of Utter Humbleness.

If This Too is Going To Pass ,

it is Not Yours.

The Defeat Was Not Yours,

The Victory is Not Yours.

You Are Just A Watcher.

Everything Passes By.

We Are Witnesses Of All This.

Life Comes And Goes.

Happiness Comes And Goes.

Sorrow Comes And Goes.

Now As You Have Read This Story,

Just Sit Silently And Evaluate Your Own Life.

This Too Will Pass.

Think Of The Moments Of Joy And Victory in Your Life.

Think Of The Moment Of Sorrow And Defeat.

Are They Permanent ?

They All Come And Pass Away.

Moral: This Life is So Temporary,

All its Enjoyments & Sorrows Will Finish One Day.

The Only Thing Which Will Remain is Our Deeds And How We Acted During The Times Of Prosperity And Adversity.

Story Of Helping A Dog

Story Of Helping A Dog

Narated By Abu Huraira RA: the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, "While a man was walking he felt thirsty and went down a well and drank water from it. On coming out of it, he saw a dog panting and eating mud because of excessive thirst. The man said, 'This (dog) is suffering from the same problem as that of mine. So he (went down the well), filled his shoe with water, caught hold of it with his teeth and climbed up and watered the dog. Allah (The One God) thanked him for his (good) deed and forgave him his sins." The people asked, "O Allah's Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving (the) animals? " The Holy Prophet replied, "Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate."

Hachiko, the Faithful Dog‏

In 1934, a bronze statue of a dog called Hachiko was erected at the Shibuya Train station in Tokyo, Japan. The story of this dog is mentioned below.

Hachiko was born in 1923 and was owned by Eisaburo Ueno, a professor in the agriculture department at the University of Tokyo. The professor used to take a train from the Shibuya Station every day to go to the university. Each day Hachiko accompanied the professor to the train station when he left for work. Upon returning, the professor would find the dog patiently waiting for his master and wagging its tail.

This happy routine continued until one fateful day in 1925, when the professor was taken ill on the job and unfortunately died before he could return home. As usual, the dog waited at the train station that day for his master to return back. However, seeing that he wasn't coming back, Hachiko waited till night fell and retuned back home.

The next day Hachiko went back to the train station again, waiting for his master to come back. He patiently waited till sunset and then retuned back home. The dog was so devoted to the professor that he continued to visit the train station everyday for the next 10 years! The people who passed the loyal dog each day were so touched by his story that they erected a statue in his honor in 1934.

In 1935, Hachiko died at the very same spot where he used to wait for his master.

Dear all, we should take a lesson from this story for ourselves. We are all creation of God and He is our sole Master, yet we strife for our own ways & worldly pleasures and being obstinate in yielding to God and His laws and some have gone so far as to deny even the existence of Allah (The One & Only God) but no man or woman is immortal in this world its a blatant fact and each will come to know the absolute truth at time of his or her death but it will be too late, painful reality it is but its the fact. Imagine your pet animal turning on you, being disobedient to you, not loving you & not abiding by the rules you set for it, what would you feel you feed it you nourish it and its being ungrateful to you, you'll be most likely punishing it or setting it straight or leaving it to its misery, but Allah (The One & Only God) is the Most High & Most Merciful, He forgive His servants those who turn to Him sincerely. Now, we should look deep into ourselves and check to see how much love we really have for God for our Master in our hearts.

Story: The Carpenter

Story: The Carpenter

A highly skilled carpenter who had grown old was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire.

The employer was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter agreed to this proposal but made sure that this will be his last project. Being in a mood to retire, the carpenter was not paying much attention to building this house. His heart was not in his work. He resorted to poor workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the job was done, the carpenter called his employer and showed him the house. The employer handed over some papers and the front door key to the carpenter and said "This is your house, my gift to you."

The carpenter was in a shock! What a shame! If he had only known that he was building his own house, he would have made it better than any other house that he ever built!

Moral: As you sow so shall you reap, whatever deeds you perform in this life you'll get the outcome in the afterlife as accordingly, evil & dirty deeds will make you end up at an evil & tormenting abode while the result for sincere and good deeds is much beautiful & pleasurable than anything. Each of us are building our abodes in afterlife through our intentions and deeds in this world.

A Touching Short Story

A Touching Short Story

One old man was sitting with his 25 years old son in the train.
Train is about to leave the station.
All passengers are settling down their seat.

As train started young man was filled with lot of joy and curiosity.
He was sitting on the window side.

He went out one hand and feeling the passing air. He shouted, "Papa see all trees are going behind".
Old man smile and admired son feelings.

Beside the young man one couple was sitting and listing all the conversion between father and son.
They were little awkward with the attitude of 25 years old man behaving like a small child.

Suddenly young man again shouted, "Papa see the pond and animals. Clouds are moving with train".

Couple was watching the young man in embarrassingly.
Now its start raining and some of water drops touches the young man's hand.
He filled with joy and he closed the eyes.

He shouted again," Papa it's raining, water is touching me, see papa".

Couple couldn't help themselves and ask the old man.
"Why don't you visit the Doctor and get treatment for your son."

Old man said,
" Yes, We are coming from the hospital as Today only my son got his eye sight for first time in his life".

Moral: "Don’t draw conclusions until you know all the facts".

The Power of Words

The Power of Words

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit. When the other frogs saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead.

The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story teaches two lessons:
1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them  make it through the day.
2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them.

Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words... It is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times. Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.
